Weather
Whether you love the distinct differences between summer, autumn, winter and spring, or prefer the continuous warmth of a tropical climate, there is a place in Western Australia for you.
The southern part of the state boasts temperate weather, with coastal temperatures ranging from around 32 degrees in the heat of summer to around 14 degrees in the middle of winter. Sunshine is a regular feature of a Western Australian day, with Perth boasting more sunny days per year than any other Australian capital city!
North of the Tropic of Capricorn the climate warms up in its two seasons: 'wet' and 'dry'. The northern 'dry' season runs from April to September with coastal Temperatures ranging from 24 degrees at night to 34 degrees during the day.
Long days of warmth, sunshine, and blue skies earn this region a reputation for perfect Western Australian weather. Interior temperatures can be more extreme, with temperature reaching as high as 40 degrees by day and dropping to nearly zero at night. However, with a little planning and a well-packed suitcase, this weather can be just as enjoyable as the coast!
The northern 'wet' season runs from October to March with temperatures in the mid- to high- 30's and high humidity. Some areas record as much as 1.5 metres of rain in this season! The stark contrast between this kind of summer, and the Summer in cooler climates can be a hard adjustment for some, but many Europeans love the balmy combination of heat, humidity, and plenty of sunshine!
